Big Fat Fake Indian Wedding Overview
We’re turning 10 — and throwing the ‘Biggest Fake Indian wedding’ ever to celebrate! 💍
Mukka completes a decade this year, and we’re doing it the only way we know how — with a Big Fat Fake Indian Wedding! An event like no other, where you can experience the madness, music, couture, cocktails, and chaos of a proper Indian wedding — without the family drama (we promise).
To make it feel authentically dramatic, our venues are divided into two sides:
💃 Bride’s side (Ladkiwala Ghar) — Mukka St Kilda
🕺 Groom’s side (Ladkewala Ghar) — Mukka Fitzroy
The festivities will unfold over three unforgettable nights:
🌿 Mehendi (Heena) Night— at bride home
🍸 Cocktail / Sangeet Night — at the Groom’s side in Fitzroy, where both families come together for a night of music, dancing, and questionable moves
💒 The Sundowner Wedding Ceremony — at the Bride’s home in St Kilda, where we finally say “I do… to another round of drinks!”
Just like every good wedding, there’s limited space — and not everyone gets a front-row seat to the madness. So, we are offering shared seating throughout the venue on first come first serve basis.
Expect buffet-style wedding feasts (with veg & non-veg options without repeated menu) and a bar serving everything you need to keep the party going — drinks sold separately, hangovers included.
So pick your side — Ladkiwale or Ladkewale — and join us for three nights of pure, desi, wedding madness! 💃🥂
Mehendi (heena) Night
Night 1- Mehendi (Heena) Madness 💚
The Mehendi is where it all begins — the official kick-off to every Big Fat Indian Wedding (and the calm before the cocktail-fuelled storm). Traditionally, it’s the ceremony where the bride and groom get their hands (and feet!) adorned with heena to symbolise love, luck, and the final moments of zen before the celebrations go full throttle.
This year at Mukka, we’re dialling it back to tradition — and cranking up the fun — with one epic Mehendi celebration at the Ladki Wala Ghar (St Kilda)! 💃🏽
Expect all the colour, chaos, and charm, including:
✨ Multiple Mehendi artists working their magic with intricate designs
🕺 Fun choreography sessions so your Bollywood moves are locked in (even after two drinks)
🎶 A DJ spinning beats to keep vibes high and hips moving
And of course — the ultimate desi soul touch:
💃🏽 Boliyan, Dholki Aunties, laughter, leg-pulling, and the kind of wedding energy that only the bride’s side can deliver
Get your hands painted, your feet tapping, and your heart ready — because the madness starts here, and it’s only going up from tonight!
Cocktail (Sangeet) Night
Night 2 — Cocktail & Sangeet Shenanigans 🍸💃
If Mehendi was the calm before the storm, this is the early warning storm itself! The Cocktail & Sangeet night is the second experience in our Big Fat Fake Indian Wedding — where things officially get wild.
In true Indian wedding style, it’s not just about two people coming together — it’s about two families meeting, mingling, competing, and secretly judging each other’s dance moves. 💅
Our Cocktail & Sangeet takes place at the Groom’s side (Ladkewala Ghar – Mukka Fitzroy) — where all the rishtedaars from the Bride’s side crash the party for one massive night of music, masti, and mayhem.
Expect:
🕺 Last-minute dance practices with our choreographers (because who doesn’t love a little pre-performance panic?)
🎤 An MC to keep the madness flowing — and maybe fuel a few dance battles
🥁 Dhol & DJ to make sure no one leaves with dry feet or dignity
🎙️ Open Mic at the end — your moment to show off those hidden talents before the wedding (yes, singing “Kala Chashma” counts)
Because at this wedding — the drama doesn’t stop… it just gets louder! 🔥
wedding (Shaadi) Sundowner
Night 3 — The Big Fat Fake Wedding Finale 💍🔥
The grand finale is here — The Wedding Day! (Well… kind of.)
Get ready for a sundowner wedding that has everything — love, laughter, loud dhol, and just the right amount of drama to make it feel real.
Our Rishtedaars from the Groom’s side will bring the baaraat all the way to the Bride’s home (Mukka St Kilda) — with dhol, DJ, and enough dance moves to make the neighbours question what’s going on.
The celebrations kick off with a ribbon-cutting and milni ceremony, where the bride’s family welcomes the groom’s side with hugs, smiles, and subtle side-eye competition.
Then, our very own Pandit ji will take charge, chanting the mantras of holy matrimony (and probably trying to keep everyone quiet while doing it).
And of course, no Indian wedding is complete without a little mischief — so get ready for the Joota Chupayi, where the bride’s side hides the groom’s shoes and refuses to give them back until the price is right. 💸
Because let’s be honest — it’s not a real wedding until someone loses a shoe and everyone loses their minds. 💃🥂
